Our Story

Hello. My name is Mark DeLong. I've been hunting or fishing since I was 5 years old. My father, grandfathers, uncles and friends of the family ensured I was in the field or on the water until I was old enough to go on my own.

I have a passion for the outdoors.  For the last 40 years, I have been fortunate enough to hunt from Africa to Alaska and many places in between.  During that time, I've learned what it takes to be successful in the field.  Much of that success depends upon the shooter doing his part when the time comes.  That means being both mentally and physically prepared.  That is something you must do on your own.  We can  prepare your firearms and ammunition so that once the trigger is pressed, all of your hard work will result in a clean kill.  This is what we are about:  absolute certainty that rifle, shotgun, optics and ammunition will deliver.

This goat will forever be in the B&C Record Book, scoring 52 1/4. He was killed in 2008 using Huntaria Enterprises LLC Huntaria Custom Ammunition and the Huntaria Rifle Accurizing Method. A one shot kill at 264 yards using a Sako AV custom in .300 Weatherby Magnum. The goat fell over backwards from the strike of the 168gr. Barnes TSX at a chronographed muzzle velocity of 3280 fps.

Where I grew up in Eastern Kentucky (Van Lear to be exact--its dual claim to fame being at one time the largest coal mining producer in the world and later, home to Lorretta Lynn), deer were hard to come by, but grouse, quail, squirrel and rabbit were plentiful for the taking. All this game was taken with the aid of a good dog. That's why I have always had English Setters and why through most of my last 40 years have owned beagles and tree feists.

The fishing in Eastern Kentucky was great too. Large mouth bass, crappie and blue gill were available on Dewey Lake in great numbers. Unfortunately, in the late 70's, mining activities around the lake really hammered the fish. After this, I hadn't fished for years until I tried the flyrod. Now I'm addicted to flyfishing.

Salmon fishing a bear infested bay in SE Alaska. A .44 Magnum loaded with alternate cylinders of hard-cast 300 gr. Keith sytle bullets and 300 gr. Sierra SP at 1200 fps. Either bullet prints to the same point of impact at 50 yards.

My son Hunter's outstanding antelope shot at a distance of 15 yds (yep, that's not a misprint) with his .25-06 and Huntaria Ammunition.  The longest shot Hunter has ever taken at a big game animal is 40 yards and hasn't missed yet.  When you can get as close as Hunter, a .22 Magnum would have probably worked!

After finishing school (Ph. D. Chemistry, Louisiana State University), I moved my family back to Appalachia and, as time permitted, picked up where I left off. Even though the realities of the corporate world is such that I've moved to Michigan (great grouse hunting, but just too cold for this hillbilly) and now reside, permanently I believe, in Western Kentucky, my passion for guns and hunting and fishing have never waned. Better still, I've endeavored to see that my children have had the same opportunities in the field as I.

Daughter Ariana with her first antelope using a Sako AII Mannlicher-style rifle in .308.  Her buck was shot from 250 yards.  Ariana had fired several hundred reduced recoil rounds in preparation of her first trip out west.

Both children began their shooting careers with reduced recoil ammunition. Huntaria Enterprises LLC caters to first time shooters of all ages.
